William Wallis Cole
Co. K, 2nd IA. Infantry
The Chetopa Advance, Thursday, Apr. 15, 1920, Pg 1
Died: Apr. 10, 1920
W. W. COLE, OLD RESIDENT,
IS FOUND DEAD IN HIS BED.
William Wallace Cole, aged 80 years 6 months and 24 days and for many years a resident of Chetopa and at one time a member of the city council, was found dead in his bed at his home in the south part of town Saturday morning. Mr. Cole had been taking his meals at the I. Frogley ho,e, across the street from his home, and when he failed to answer the usual call Saturday morning Mr. Frogley went over to see what was the matter. He entered the house and found Mr. Cole lying in his bed dead but the body was still warm, indicating that death had come only a short time before. The gas was burning in the
heater and it is presumed that Mr. Cole had risen from his bed and lit the fire and returned to bed until the room warmed up. The end probably came as an effect of this effort. Mr. Cole had not been feeling well for some time but there was no suspicion that he had heart trouble.
Mr. Cole is survived by one son, Don Cole, and the latter’s wife and daughter, Katherine, who live in Chicago; and one sister, Mrs. M. E. Halloway, whose home is at Oskaloosa, Ia. Mr. and Mrs. Cole came immediately upon receipt of the sad news and remained over several days. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church, Rev. T. M. Bell officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill cemetery.
Mr. Cole was born near Marietta, Ohio, September 18, 1839. When a boy he removed with his parents to Kirksville, Ia. At the first call for three-month volunteers in 1861 he enlisted and at the expiration of that time re-enlisted as a private in Company K, Second Iowa Infantry, serving with it until the end of the war. He was at the battle of Fort Donalson and later at Shiloh. He took much pleasure in telling of his march to the sea with Sherman. He was never wounded but spent many days in the hospitals as a result of rheumatism. After returning to his home in Iowa he was married to Julia Battelle Dana. To this union two sons were born, Charles and Don. In 1885 he removed with his family to Columbus, Kas. then to Chetopa where he had since lived. Charles the oldest son, died December 19, 1897, and November 13, 1907, Mrs. Cole died. Mr. Cole had served as a member of the city council and was at one time city marshal.
Mr. Cole was a good specimen of our old soldier element. He was always honest and honored, a kind and devoted husband and father
31/365 I'm coming out of my cage...
And I’ve been doing just fine,
Gotta gotta be down,
Because I want it all,
It started out with a kiss,
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss,
Now I’m falling asleep,
Turning saints into the sea,
Turning through sick lullabies,
Choking on your alibis,
But it’s just the price I pay,
Destiny is calling me,
Open up my eager eyes,
Cause I’m Mr(s) Brightside.
Woke up singing this song...it's really weird to wake up like all dramatic and be all "Im coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine..." I thought I was in a musical for a second. Bout to go broadway on my life! Haha!
So...journal time?
Si!
Things have been pretty hectic lately. My mom has been trying to decide what to do about moving or not...my sister has some personal issues going on and my friends have been all over the place.
It's been hard to keep up...I think I keep slipping through the cracks which has turned me into Switzerland lately. Which is odd cause usually I have an opinion about almost any conversation but lately I'm just like...ehh.
Guess there's just a lot on my noggin. I think for a little while I'm going to turn into Jason Mraz (who I love a lot! Man is a genius) and just take it easy for a bit.
So this is almost a part 2 to my previous shot titled "Somebody help me tame this animal" which has the most views from my 365 o.o you guys are seriously too nice to me. So I put on the Cheetah shoes one more time and lost it! Haha!

Mhmmmm so I've been thinking about making some changes. I might change my major, transfer schools, and ohhh I'm going to take a dance class next week! :D As soon as I get paid today I'm going to book a few lessons. I don't know which one to pick though. My best friend had suggested Flamingo a few weeks ago which is a great idea but I don't know if the dance studio I'm looking at has it in the summer.
Guess we'll see.
Till tomorrow my loves.
:)
